August 2009 Dear Students of Cab Calloway School of the Arts, Supply list and additional back to school information is available at the bottom of this page. Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! The faculty and staff of CCSA would like to extend our warmest welcome to you as you either enter for the first time or return for another year at CCSA. We look forward to our school year together! We hold high expectations of our Calloway students. We expect each one of you to do your best both academically and in your chosen arts areas. Remember that all you do, both at school and in our community, represents Cab Calloway School of the Arts. For those of you new to Cab Calloway, we follow the district high school calendar. All half-days will occur during midterm and final exam times. In addition, we encourage you (as well as returning students) to join our school’s listserv to stay up-to-date on the latest happenings at Cab Calloway. To join simply send an email to: In an effort to be good stewards of our resources, we are placing all back-to-school information on our website at http://cabcalloway.redclay.k12.de.us. There are links at the bottom of this page to supply lists, policies, and other information you will need to know. If you do not have access to a computer, you can request a packet be mailed by calling 651-2700. All students will receive an agenda book, which includes a daily calendar and the student/parent handbook. Please review the agenda book with your child. Students in grades 6 – 9 start school on Monday, August 31. Students in grades 10 – 12 start school on Tuesday, September 1. All students should report to their alphabetical homeroom the first two days of school to receive class schedules. Students will then be dismissed to their Period 3 class for locker assignments, agendas, Codes of Conduct, etc. Please be sure you are in your alphabetical homeroom no later than 7: 35 a.m. on these two days. Beginning Wednesday, September 2, Cab will no longer have a homeroom period at the beginning of the day. The first instructional period will begin at 7:35 a.m.; students who are tardy to school will be missing instructional time. Homeroom will take place during Period 3 for the remainder of the school year. Students are to follow the current schedules unless an official schedule change is made with your guidance counselor. Any student with an unscheduled period should report to the guidance office during the unscheduled period only. Otherwise, follow the schedule you received. We will make every effort to make necessary adjustments as quickly as possible. We will hold a NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION in the theatre at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, followed by an ICE CREAM SOCIAL sponsored by our PTSO at 7:00 p.m. for all Calloway families.
